The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) approved the party-list bid of Ang Nars, a group claiming to represent nurses. Brillantes said Ang Nars was allowed because they represent the marginalized group of professionals: nurses.
Ang Nars supports the wage increase for nurses, and condemns exploitation of nurses locally and abroad as well as illegal recruitment. They also slammed the economic agreement Japanese-Philippine Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA), which they said would export nurses to Japan where unfair labor practices are prevalent.
Ang Nars nominated Leah Primitiva Paquiz, Lydia Arco Palaypay, Chris Gonzales Sorongon, Caridad Moncal Galban and Anna Marie Kapunan. Ang Nars is the second party-list allowed to participate in next year’s elections after Pilipinos with Disabilities (PWD).
