Over 36,100 inmates of the Bureau of Correction (BuCor) are about to receive PhilHealth Cards. The BuCor shall fully subsidize the premium contributions of some 36,100 inmates and they have allotted P36 million for the initial implementation. The program will not only benefit the inmates but also their families.

The beneficiaries of the program are the inmates from New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) in Muntinlupa City; Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City; Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro; Iwahig Prsion and Penal Farm in Palawan; Leyte Regional Prison in Abuyog, Letye; Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte; and San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm Zamboanga City.

This is such a great move for both PhilHealth and BuCor as health services will be more reachable by indigent families. I am just hoping that more and more Filipino people would be able to have such benefits.
